The Mission Guild

The Mission Guild

The Mission Guild resides in the royal palace of New Peridyym. The guild receives mission requests from the frontier by magical means and advertizes for mercenary adventurers. Such adventurers are then organized and catalogued into either a Mission Party or an Expedition Team, and dispatched to the requesting frontier site by magical means in the following manor;

A) All applicants are greeted by the Chief Steward, Polemus Chaderach in the foyer, grouped, and assigned a team badge. The Mission Boards are amply displayed in the foyer for applicants to choose for their team to apply for. Before they are let into the interview, the Chief Steward makes sure the chosen mission is still available when their badge is called into the interview.

B) The applicant team is called in and interviewed for mission appropriateness (class distribution, motivation, power capabilities) by the Mission Controller, Wilmerding Durant, Guildmaster. Widely it is known that 99% of all applicants are approved. Each member of the applicant team is them recorded and sent further into the guildhall for briefing, preparation, and deployment.

1) The Mission Controller determines if the applicants desire to pursue a Mission or Exploration, or both.
a) The applicant team is toured through the Stables to choose a mount, if they so desire one.
b) The applicants are given a meal and if needed, accommodations for the night.

2) Applicants who are determined to become Explorers are channeled through Steps C), D), E), and F).
3) Applicants who are simply seeking Missions are channeled directly to E) and F).

C) The applicant team is then taken to the Chapel and Briefed on the official duties of The King’s Explorers by Sir Herme Quinnius, Lord Paladin of the King.
1) Explorers pledge their lives to the safety of the team.
2) Explorers are ambassadors of King Peridyym the First, and all their actions are to be carried out in His name.
3) All territory claimed by Explorers is done so in the name of King Peridyym and becomes the property of Peridyym.
a) All territory is to be named by the team priest, or a council of exploration priests.
b) In the unavoidable absence of the priest, the highest ranking member of the team will assume priest duties until a replacement can be found.
c) All temporary priest duties can be overridden by the replacement priest.

D) After the Briefing, all applicants who are still willing are officially charged by the Lord Prefect Archlon Balmoral Himself and an available member of the Royal Family as Explorers of the King, official ambassadors
1) Rank is then assigned to party members (Captain, Lt, Explorer 1st Class, etc.) by Sir Herme Quinnius.

A Ranger, usually ranked as Lieutenant-Scout.

2) Any supplementary adventurers are added to the team if necessary by the Lord Paladin.

Colonization
The order of business would usually occur as follows;
1) Expedition teams of Priests and adventurers enter and subdue habitable land.
2) The Priest would declare an area suitable for long term settlement.
3) The merchant-barons who funded that expedition would claim the property and use adventurers and/or the indentured servitude to build upon it, creating a town.
4) The adventurers would either settle in with the new establishment or go on with a new exploration team.
5) A Priest stays with the new town as permanent advisor for the civic government.
6) The families serve out their indentured term within their merchant-baron's new town and begin trade to pay off their debt.
7) The warriors hired to accompany could also choose to pay their debt if they did not wish to continue with the expedition party.
8) All individuals responsible for funding the expeditions will assume proprietary rights under Peridyym sovereignty and will be granted lease of the property from Peridyym by the Royal Charter Guild.
a) Proprietary holders heretofore are known as Lord or Lady Barons.
b) Lords and Ladies are responsible for paying due tribute to the crown for the new region of land.
c) Any and all civic government generated by the Lord or Lady Baron will be supported by martial force from Peridyym, so long as tribute is made.
